Who was behind the iconic costumes of Michael Jackson? On November 19th and 20th, fashion designer Michael Bush will be signing copies of his latest book, The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson, an artistic work that showcases the unforgettable costumes worn by Michael Jackson over the past 25 years.
Having worked with other celebrities like Britney Spears and Elizabeth Taylor, Bush worked with Jackson for 25 years, touring the world with him on three solo tours. After meeting on the set of Captain EO, and assisting with Jackson's wardrobe in short films, the pair became good friends, and Bush was hired to work creatively with Jackson to design his performance-wear.
Working closely on Jackson's collection over the years with fashion design partner Dennis Tompkins, Bush’s book contains a scintillating reservoir of Jackson’s costumes, including outfits worn throughout his Bad, Dangerous, and History tours, and how the infamous “Thriller” jacket evolved. With page after page of stunning, theatrical costumes and behind-the-scenes photos of Jackson and Bush's artistic collaboration, the book is the first of its kind to lend itself solely to the classic art pieces worn by Michael, and the unique methodology used to tailor the garments specifically to his vision.
The book signing event will give Jackson fans the opportunity to get their books signed (just in time for the holiday season), but also to see the costumes up close and personal, as a select number of Jackson's costumes will also be on display. The event will be held at Julien's Auctions Beverly Hills Gallery from 10am-3pm on both November 19th and November 20th.
