Michael Jackson's blood saturated with propofol

Michael Jackson's blood found with lethal levels of Diprivan

Michael Jackson's body was found to have lethal levels of the drug propofol in it, and the coronor's office is ruling his death a homicide now.

Propofol is used in anethesiology and not usually found in the home. Dr. Conrad Murry, Michael Jackson's physician at the time of his death, is the person responsible for injecting Michael with propofol as well as 2 other benzodiazepines. Propofol is usually administered via an IV line and titrated into the body until the desired effect is reached. Once the drug is withdrawn, the patient wakes up almost immediately. During a search of Jackson's home following his death, authorities found an IV line, tubing and bottles of propofol.

With this new information, Dr. Murray has his hand's fiull. Serious doubt may arise as to whether he is even qualified to be administering this drug in a home setting, doctor or not. Propofol is used by anesthesiologists who have extra years of training and education behind them in order to be able to administer drugs like this.  Dr. Murray's office and home were raided by authorities recently in their quest to dig up answers about Jackson's death. With the coronor's toxicology report out now, Dr. Murray might want to be searching for a legal dream-team right about now.

This latest information comes from Los Angeles' coroner Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran after analyzing Jackson's toxicology report. There has been allegations that the King of Pop was using other prescription drugs at the time of his death also.

Dr. Murray admitted giving Jackson benozodiazepines but failed to tell hospital personnel about the propofol the day Michael was rushed there. Later he admitted to investigators that more was involved. On June 25th, at 10:30am, the doctor gave him a 10-milligram Valium. When that didn't put Jackson to sleep he injected him with 2-milligrams of lorazepam followed by 2-milligrams of  midazolam to help him sleep. This medication was repeated again later, but Jackson did not go to sleep. When Michael started complaining to Dr. Murray about giving him his "milk," as Michael called propofol, Murray gave in and administered 25 mgs of the powerful anesthetic.Together, these drugs pushed Michael over the edge.

The question now is, can Dr. Murray be held accountable for this grave error, or outright negligence, and should he? He knew Jackson had a drug problem, and it was incumbent upon him to do something about it. When Jackson talked about his "milk" that should have been a really big clue that Michael had more than just a sleeping problem. First do no harm, is a part of the Hippocratic Oath that all physicians swear to follow. Apparently, Dr. Murray must have forgotten that..

One can only imagine what that scene must have looked like with Jackson sedated with an IV line in him while the propofol slowly dripped its way toward death. If that is what actually took place. Dr. Murray may have inadvertently fed Jackson's bloodstream to much of the medication because when it interacted with the benzodiazepines in Michael's bloodstream, the medication actually becomes more powerful due to a "synergistic" effect, or Michael's liver was compromised in some way and unable to metabolize the propofol fast enough, and it ended up accumulating and killing him.

It is unfortunate that  Michael died in this manner. And it is obvious to me that he did indeed have a problem with drugs and drug abuse. Referring to a drug as his "milk" is anything but a reference to a powerful anesthetic with the ability to kill in an instant. However, when you are using drugs that are intended for a hospital setting, and more specifically for a surgical setting, you are playing in the big leagues. And we all know that Michael was in one of the biggest leagues of them all, in life, in his use of drugs, and now in death.

Rest in peace Brother.

So sad. One report says Michael was begging for more sedatives, then his doctor topped those off with Propofol. At that point, I think his physician could have hauled him off to rehab, regardless of his superstar status. He was a danger to himself, and by law could have been admitted for help. Why wouldn't anyone do this for Jackson?

To suggest that Michael Jackson died as a result of an assisted suicide, as some snotty press and skeptics seem to be bent on exploiting,is just beyond reproach. No matter how powerful or famous the patient is, it is the doctor who is ultimately responsible for the decision. The doctor undertook the administration of a legal drug in an illegal setting. The doctor violated his Hippocratic Oath. Don't blame Michael Jackson for this. All he wanted was to get some sleep, not to die. The media should stop stripping him of his dignity in life, and now in death. The blood of Michael Jackson is dripping from the media and all those who made his life a living hell.

Very well done. A sad ending for the King of Pop, that's for sure, but let's hope all of us can learn from this for ourselves.
