Michael Jackson rejected Madonna written song: 'He didn't want to be provocative'

AP

A new report has surfaced saying that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson at one point rejected a song that was written by Madonna because the song was too provocative.

Madonna says: "We spent a chunk of time together, and became friends, but it never happened. I wrote a bunch of words and presented them to him, and he didn't want to go there. He didn't want to be provocative. And I said, 'Well, why come to me?' It's like asking Quentin Tarantino to not put any violence in his films. I felt he was too shy."

According to ContactMusic, Madonna told Britain's Times newspaper: "When I heard he had died, the first thing that came into my head was the word 'abandoned'. I feel like we all abandoned him and put him in a box and labelled him as a strange person."

Madonna payed MJ a very heart felt tribute at the 2009 MTV VMAs saying that 'most people had turned their backs on him.' She also detailed what she did when she first heard the shocking news: ''In a desperate attempt to hold onto his memory, I went on the Internet to watch old clips of him dancing and singing on TV and onstage and I thought, 'My God, he was so unique, so original, so rare. And there will never be anyone like him again.' He was a king. But he was also a human being and alas, we are all human beings and sometimes we have to lose things before we can truly appreciate them. I want to end this on a positive note and say that my sons, age 9 and 4, are obsessed with Michael Jackson. There's a whole lot of crotch-grabbing and moonwalking going on in my house, and it seems like a whole new generation of kids has discovered his genius and are bringing him to life again. I hope that wherever Michael is now, he is smiling about this.'

This news is not NEW at all. Madonna did mention about this "failed" collaboration with MJ in one of her TV interviews back in the 90s.

  • Stranger 2 years ago

Madonna has been saying this since 1990.
    It's not New!
Their collaboration was for the song, "In The Closet".
Michael wanted it to be provocative but not something completely noticeable like Madonna often makes her songs.
For example, Superfly Sister, In the Closet, Dangerous, and Dirty Diana make sexual references but you can easily get past them because what's important is the song as a whole, one that can be a complete HIT rather than an ugly song you would skip with dirty words and such.
