Michael Jackson picked an impersonator to sing on 'The Simpsons,' says star

When Michael Jackson made his famous appearance on "The Simpsons" way back in 1991, it turns out that it may not have been entirely the "King of Pop" after all.

In a rather shocking new video posted by TMZ, voice actor Yeardley Smith (who plays Lisa) claims taht Michael was not allowed by his record label to actually sing "Happy Birthday Lisa" during the episode, and that he instead hired a famous impersonator to do the song in his stead. (He still provided voice work for the episode.)

So far, the impersonator (whose name is Kipp Lennon) has not responded to any reports, but considering the source here it seems as though this may have actually happened -- and we have yet another bizarre addition to the wacky life of a pop legend.

Does knowing this bit of information diminish your love for the show in any way?
