Michael Jackson fans react to 'This is it'

Orlando hip hop station Power 95.3 sent their “street team” Jessica and Tamika to Regal Cinema,Winter Park to cover the opening of Michael Jackson’s “This is it”. The ladies were very excited with the prospect of seeing the film saying they had heard people loved it. The girls said they heard that many people had even cried during the film.

When I asked them what they thought of Michael they Tamika said “He’s amazing”, followed by Jessica who said “ He’s awesome.” The two were also quick to inform me that I missed most of the excitement when they had held a dance contest earlier. During the competition contestants tried their best to perform Jackson moves such as the moonwalk for prizes.

Friends Phallin and Bettina from Orlando came together to see the film Phallin said she liked Michael Jackson’s creativity and her favorite song is “You are not alone”. Bettina said her favorite song was the Jackson classic “Man in the mirror”. They were both excited to see the film and said none of their friends had seen it yet and that they would first to see it.

I was able to grab a few guests to ask their thoughts after they had seen the actual footage of “This is it”. A few movie goers were kind enough to share with me. One of them has to be one of Michael's biggest fans and her name is Erica. Erica’s boss Kristy from “Any Lab test now” in Winter Park brought her to see the film. Her boss sighted that Erica was such a fan that she tried to take time off work for Michael’s funeral so she had to bring her.

Erica (who felt she was not camera ready) was wearing an “I heart MJ “ shirt said “ He’s awesome” and that she loved the all the action, seeing Michael's dance moves, and the way he interacted with his dancers. It’s a producers dream when Erica states she loved the movie so much that she will be coming to see it all over again with her son.

Her boss Kristy said “It was a wonderful show” and that she enjoyed seeing the “real him behind the scenes” . She also noticed how he worked very well with his production staff. I asked her if she learned anything watching Michael handle those around him, to which she replied “ Yeah actually , I could probably be a little softer at times.”

Nyesha Young took a moment to share her her love for Michael after seeing the film . Said Young “I think Michael was a very talented person ...we lost a great person.” She went on to say she really enjoyed the film especially the new production of “Thriller”. How can a person be that talented ..that gifted...it was just touching. That seemed to a be a reoccurring sentiment expressed by all who saw the film.
