While fans prepare to descend on the Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, California on Friday, July 3 for the public viewing of Michael Jackson's body, there are several other famous sites linked with Michael Jackson to see in Hollywood and the Los Angeles area.

On Hollywood Boulevard, fans have been paying their respects at Michael Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater. Michael Jackson is one of a handful of entertainers to have received two stars in the same category. Before receiving his own star in 1984, Michael also received a star as part of The Jackson 5 in 1980.

Michael Jackson's video for "You Are Not Alone" was filmed at the Pantages Theater, also located on Hollywood Boulevard.

The Shrine Auditorium, located on Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles, was where Michael Jackson's hair caught on fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial in 1984. The Shrine, where the BET awards were recently held, was also the site of several of Jackson's Grammy and American Music Award performances.

When the Jacksons first moved to Los Angeles, Michael attended sixth grade at Gardner Street Elementary School on Hawthorn Avenue. In 1989, Gardner honored Jackson by naming the school auditorium the "Michael Jackson Auditorium". Michael attended the dedication ceremony:

Sadly, in 2003, the school covered up Michael Jackson's name after Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse. The sign outside the entrance to the auditorium was covered up after complaints from angry parents, leaving only the word "Auditorium."  It is still covered up to this day.

Jackson suffered cardiac arrest at a home he was renting on Carolwood Drive in Bel Air. He was pronounced dead at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Since his death, fans have gathered to pay their respects at the Jackson Family Compound on Hayvenhurst Avenue in Encino, California.

Gardner Street Elementary School needs to uncover Michael Jackson's name on the auditorium. It's long overdue, and the decent thing to do.
