An actor who played a cop on TV shooting his wife to death and turning himself into the police sounds like a script from one of his own shows. Unfortunately for Michael Jace this dramatic script is for real. Jace was arrested on Tuesday and charged with killing his wife after he called 911 and told an operator he shot her reported The Hollywood Reporter on May 20, 2014. Jace has been accused of fatally shooting his wife many times during an argument. The couple's kids were at home during the time of the incident.

Jace played a police officer on the hit FX series "The Shield." Detectives have been investigating whether the couple's financial or other marital difficulties had something to do with the murder. Jace is being held on $1 million bail after being accused of shooting his wife multiple times on Monday night while they were having an argument in their home in the peaceful Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The couple's two son's who are both under 10 were home at the time of the shooting. It is not yet clear if they witnessed the argument or the murder. The body of 40-year-old April Jace was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a hallway of the Jace residence. The police found a handgun near the scene of the killing. Jace was detained and arrested by police at about 8:30 p.m. that evening. He had been having financial problems in recent years.

Jace has been formally charged with murdering his wife in their Los Angeles home reports Fox News. Jace told police on a 911 call, "I shot my wife." The Los Angeles police have listed the motive as domestic violence. The Jace kids are now in protective custody. Neighbors said Jace was generally a very polite guy. However, in March 2011 he filed for bankrutpcy with debts of between $500,000 and $1 million. It was his financial problems which apparently tore his life apart and resulted in this tragedy.
