Jace was detained on Monday night after his wife, April Jace, was found shot to death in her south Los Angeles home by police. According to Los Angeles Police Detective Lyman Doster, police found April Jace’s body after being called to investigate a shooting. Once on the scene investigators detained Michael Jace at the couple’s Hyde Park home Monday night before booking him for homicide.

Sal LaBarbera, a detective on the case, said that Michael Jace is currently the only suspect in the murder. The 51-year-old actor was actually the one to call 911 to report the death. Their two young children were also at home at the time of the shooting, but weren’t harmed physically. Emotionally is another story. LaBarera told KTLA, “They’re not physically hurt, but obviously their emotions are running high. Two young children that lost their mom and their dad is in jail, most likely will be in prison for this.”

Michael Jace is currently being held on $1 million bail and was cooperating in the case according to the LAPD. Police are still investigating what prompted the tragic shooting and state that they weren’t aware of any domestic dispute.

Michael Jace is best known for his role on “The Shield” in his 22-year acting career. It was his biggest and longest running role. He started in 2002 as rookie officer Julien Lowe, who eventually became a detective before the series ended in 2008.
