The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, have announced Goalie Michael Hutchinson, a Jets prospect, has been assigned to Ontario.
Hutchinson, a 23-year-old goalie, was drafted in the third round by the Boston Bruins (#77 overall) in the 2008 NHL draft. He spent his 2012-13 season with the Boston’s AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In 30 starts, Hutchinson had a 13-13-3 record including three shutouts, and maintained a 0.914 save percentage and a 2.30 goals-against average.
A native of Barrie, Ontario, Hutchinson has played professionally since the 2010-11 season when he debuted with Providence. He spent both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons between Providence and the ECHL’s Reading Royals. With Providence, he has a career goals-against average of 2.57 and a 0.916 save percentage. With Reading, Hutchinson posted a career goals-against average of 2.93 and a 0.918 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound goaltender played in the OHL with the Barrie Colts for three seasons and the London Knights for his final season of junior hockey in 2009-10.
