The final outcome of Michael Dunn for the murder of Jordan Davis is not over. According to CNN, “Michael Dunn was found guilty on four charges, including three for attempted second-degree murder, which could land him behind bars for decades. Yet there was no verdict on the first-degree murder charge tied to the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.”
George Davis had the following to say about the outcome of the case and the reactions to the verdict. “Michael Dunn found guilty of 3 counts of 2nd degree attempted murder and 1 count of firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle. The 1st degree murder charge resulted in a hung jury (mistrial), but will most certainly be retried. Not the full verdict I believe would have been appropriate, but very pleased that an acquittal was not the result. Justice is still in motion, but this is a HUGE step in that direction!!”
He went on to say, “I sure hope that some mature Christians show up on social media at some point to recognize that our words are influencing someone else's thoughts (and maybe their actions). The legal system is working!! Both sides argued the evidence available to them well. The jury took great time to try to reach a just verdict in their mind. They didn't acquit him of murder. They simply couldn't come to a decision. And because we live in this great country that requires a unanimous decision by a jury, remember that it only takes one juror to see it a different way for the result to end in mistrial. Justice has not been served for the specific murder of Jordan Davis. But, this is a major step in that direction. Jordan Davis' parents showed extreme restraint, class, and the love of God. Let's all take our lead from the people who have suffered the most and expend that energy praying for the Davis family (who are still living this nightmare) and not allow the results of the mistrial to stir up racial hatred in us that still violates the love of Christ!”
Since the trial Jordan’s parents have appeared on TV to give their response on the verdict of the trial. They are still grieving parents due to the loss of their only child and they are left to commemorate his recent birthday on February 16th.
