Michael Douglas will become one of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", as the Oscar winner will be starring in Marvel's Ant-Man with Paul Rudd

Douglas will be playing Henry "Hank" Pym, the scientist with the ability to literally become the size of an ant.

In the comics, Pym became one of the founding members of the Avengers who also created Ultron as an alternative, peaceful way to end the ongoing cycle of violence, but the robot turned against Pym and tried to take over the world with his own creation: the android Vision, who went on to side with the Avengers.

Rudd's role in Ant-Man is Scott Lang. In the comics, Lang was an electronics genius turned thief turned superhero who succeeded Pym as Ant-Man while the former embarked on several superhero identities, which included Yellowjacket.

The beginning of "Phase Three" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man is set for release on July 31, 2015, two months after the end of "Phase Two" with The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which comes out on May 1, 2015.
