Michael Douglas pays homage to Kirk Douglas during SAG Awards speech (video)

Michael Douglas had the fans watching the 20th Annual SAG Awards on Saturday night thinking about his family. The entertainer won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for Behind the Candelabra and his acceptance speech reminded everyone about his family's influence. Sharing the moment with the world Michael Douglas thanked his 97-year-old father and SAG member Kirk Douglas. The moment had a spotlight on the elder man who is an actor everyone in Hollywood respects.

“Particular for me. I have got a 97-year-old member of SAG back at home. Who I know is particularly proud of getting this award,” said Michael Douglas on stage referencing his father. Michael went on to suggest that the rest of the actors who voted for him help him get out of the shadow of his father who is considered one of the best Hollywood actors alive.

Michael Douglas also thanked his pal Matt Damon for the amazing chemistry on Behind the Candelabra. The two stars were part of the HBO movie and the Liberace movie has been widely acclaimed.

While Michael Douglass did thank a number of people on stage he forgot to thank his kids. After he got off stage the star quickly followed up with a thank you to his family on social media. Wanting people to know his appreciation to the family, Michael wrote a sign for everyone to read.
