What is the big Michael Douglas mistake that the actor says he made recently? The actor has admitted, according to The Sun via, that he had taken the one “closest to me for granted.” It would seem that this admission is related to his temporary split last year from wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split for a while in 2013, but they have been seen back together again quite a few times since then. In fact, the two were together at the recent AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony honoring Jane Fonda, where he seems to have made the remarks garnering headlines.

The actor said that first one has to admit having made a mistake, “then dealing with it is easy.” He added that “When you're older you focus that energy on the people closest to you, on your family.” As fans of Douglas and Zeta-Jones know, both have had health struggles over the past few years that most certainly added complex challenges to their marriage.

While the two haven't shared specifics regarding their temporary split, it seems that Michael Douglas' mistake talk would indicate that the two have worked through their challenges. Many fans were saddened to hear of their split and are thrilled to see that Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are back together again.
