Michael Douglas has been diagnosed with throat cancer after a tumor was discovered. He will undergo eight weeks of radiation along with chemotherapy.  His doctors are optimistic and expect the actor to make a full recovery.

Douglas's publicist, Allen Burry, declined answering any questions about Douglas's history of smoking, reports USA Today. Michael Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, 40, were both working on kicking the habit back in 2006, when it was reported the two had a half pack a day habit.

Douglas, who entered Hollywood with some pretty big tracks to follow of his father, Kirk Douglas, showed the world he had talent of his own. His famous father might have helped in with his first big break, but his talent kept him going in Hollywood all these decades.

Michael Douglas attended school in Connecticut in 1963. He attended the prestigious The Choate School, now called Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford Connecticut.
