Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones separation did shock fans because when Douglas was gravely ill going through treatment for his stage three cancer, Zeta-Jones was by his side. You might think they'd get closer after such an ordeal, but the problem lies somewhere completely different in their marriage, according to Radaronline on Aug. 29.
It seems as if another man has caused problems in their marriage, but it is not problems of another romance, rather than family problems. Douglas's son Cameron is in jail for drug dealing and he keeps getting himself into trouble with drugs while serving time behind bars. This just continues to add time to his original five-year sentence. At this point a judge doubled the five year sentence for Cameron's actions.
Cameron is in solitary confinement inside the prison for his behavior and this means his father cannot see him. The elder Douglas is beside himself in worry and his son's prison time and problems have been all consuming for Douglas.
Zeta-Jones doesn't share Douglas' worries or woes over his grown 34-year-old son from a previous marriage and this is adding much angst to the marriage. Douglas doesn't feel that Zeta-Jones cares about his son and this put the wedge between them that caused the split, according to Radaronline's sources. The couple have two kids together
Cameron Douglas is 34-years-old, making him a grown man responsible for his own actions, but his father takes on his son's problems as if they were his own. Zeta-Jones and Douglas have two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, and she's been spending time with them in New York since the split.
