Crew members of Michael Corrente's upcoming film Loosies recently turned the old Providence Arcade into a New York subway station.

The Providence Arcade, which closed in 2008, was built in 1828 and was the first enclosed shopping center in the United States. In addition to being a local fixture, the Providence Arcade was declared a National Historical Landmark in 1976.

The classical architecture and Ionic columns of The Arcade (as it referred to locally) should nicely suit Corrente's attempt to make it appear as if it were a subway station native to New York City.

Loosies, which stars Peter Facinelli (Twilight), Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Sin City) and Joe Pantoliano (The Sapranos), tells the story of a pick pocket (Facinelli) who is forced to reexamine his shady past when he discovers he is about to become a father.

Loosies is tentatively set to appear in theaters next summer.

Hopefully this will generate interest in this historical landmark and perhaps someone can see fit to finance its reopening.
