Michael Brewer: Doctor's say Christmas miracle

Michael Brewer is a trooper and was determined to be home for Christmas!  This may seem like a simple wish for many 15 year-old boys, however for Michael, this didn't seem like a possibility just two short months ago. 

On October 12th, 2009, our community and country were horrified at the story that made headlines across the nation.  Michael was doused in alcohol and set on fire by other teens. The three teens charged with this horrible act are Denver Jarvis, Jesus Mendez and Matthew Bent are being tried as adults in Broward County, Florida.  They are accused of attempted murder.

According to the Sun-Sentinel: Michael Brewer, 15, was released from the Burn Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, sparking elation from supporters, stunning some family members and impressing the doctors who have treated him since he was brought in with burns over two-thirds of his body.....Brewer's suffering inspired outrage and compassion.

The showing of support in our South Florida community as well as all through the country has been overwhelming.  With well over 7000 fans on Facebook, Michael Brewer is being cheered on by thousands.

Today Michael Brewer's mother, Valerie, spoke on The Today Show. She praised her son for his strength and determination and stated Michael's spirits are really high. She is extremely proud of how dedicated her son is to his therapy and recovery.  At this time the family is asking for privacy. They have not returned to there home and are in an undisclosed location.  Michael is fearful for his safety at his home.
