Michael Baisden off air effective immediately; radio crew locked out of Cumulus

At 2:50 p.m., Baiseden Live posted in Facebook that the "Michael Baisden Show Staff has been 'locked out' of Cumulus Studios".

Between now and March 29, 2013, stations that broadcast the show will be doing pre-recorded shows associated to the particular day. For the first day off air, the previous show about bullying that was live a few weeks ago aired and nothing was stated about the ending of The Michael Baisden Show.

Michael Baisden would have celebrated his 10 year anniversary of the show this July.

In his new announcement, Michael Baisden offered some explanation as to the abrupt end to his nationally syndicated show. He stated “just because we couldn’t come to an agreement is no reason to drive the listeners, our affiliates, and our advertisers of only 9 days to say goodbye and show our appreciation.”

This implies that a contractual agreement could not be reached between Cumulus Media and Michael Baisden to continue the popular radio show.

However, most contractual disagreements end more amicably and will allow the departing company to ready their fans and inform advertisers. The unexpected and laconic ending of a very popular radio show and the obvious tension between Michael Baisden and his syndicator could be evidence of a firing.

Calls to Cumulus Media and ABC Radio have not been returned for comment. However, Radio Facts have stated that Cumulus was upset that Michael Baisden announced his departure before final negotiations. They did not name a source of this information and reasons for the ending of the show have yet to be confirmed.

Facebook and Twitter are blowing up with angry comments from faithful listeners toward Cumulus whilst wishing Mr. Baisden luck on his next venture. Mr. Baisden is still emoting a positive attitude although there has not been any official statement made by the beloved (and hated) radio host.

There still hasn't been an official announcement from any media outlet in regards to the end of The Michael Baisden Show-a show that spearheaded major injustice and civil issues like that of Trayvon Martin to the front of the news cycle.
