Perhaps you have put off visiting the splendid town of Micanopy. If you are looking for the old Florida don't miss Micanopy. There is but one main street that runs through the town. Cholokka Boulevard is lined with quaint stores and will take you back in time. Stroll up and down both sides of the street and you will find everything from antiques to ice cream.
Micanopy is well known for its antique stores that feature eclectic pieces. Many of the shops are in historic buildings and reflect the history of the town.
There is no hustle and bustle in this rural area. Beautiful oak trees with Spanish moss line the streets and quiet living surrounds the town. Perhaps that is why Micanopy is called "The town that time forgot".
Micanopy lies just south of Gainesville and is located in Alachua County. Once a year a festival is held and the downtown booms that weekend. Vendors and craft show artists sell their wares. Due to the popularity of the festival, many of the vendors are on a waiting list to get in. Typically, the festival is held in the fall and has been going on for 35 years. Don't miss seeing this wonderful little town. Micanopy is well worth the day's trip.
