There are several bridges located throughout the Cincinnati area that have paranormal stories that surround them. The Miamitown Bridge is located over at Harrison Avenue and State Route 128 in Miamitown in Cincinnati. Legend has it that there were a total of four bridges built that were spanning the Great Miami River. The first bridge was a covered bridge built in 1863 but was torn down to prevent the Confederate Cavalry from crossing led by John Hunt Morgan. The second bridge was built a year later in 1864 and was made of steel which had a few fatalities on it. The first fatality was when a hay wagon was crossing in the 1930s and a man on the back was taken surprised by the sudden swerve and fell into the river drowning. The second fatality was in the 1950s when the decking on the bridge was torn up and it was closed. A drunk man tried to drive home and didn't realize the bridge was out so he drove across making the tires on the steel beams that were sticking out until a tire slipped off and got stuck. He tried to get out of the car but fell to the river due to lack of decking.
The paranormal aspect of this all is that several ghosts lurk on the bridge one being the most famous is the driver of a red truck that went over the bridge. The vehicle was found but the body was never found. His ghost appears as a glowing apparition crossing the bridge but will slowly dissipate never making it all the way across the bridge. Shadowy figures have actually been seen on the bridge as well but vanish just as quickly as they appear.
