Governor Rick Scott has announced that the unemployment rate for the Miami area is 8.4 percent a decrease of 1.3 percent from last year.
This is good news for people like Richard Apgar, a carpenter. "I am glad more jobs are opening up. I struggled for two years to find work in construction and now I have a position that will help me pay my bills," said Apgar.
Katherine Berman agreed. She work as a waitress. "If more people are going to work, then more people will spend money in my restaurant. They will buy more food and leave more tips for me," said Berman.
One question will be whether the jobs being created are fulltime with benefits or parttime with no benefits. Because of Obamacare, many companies are reducing the number of hours employees can work so the employees are not working more than 29 hours a week. If they work more than 30 hours a week they would be eligible for employee healthcare or the employee would have to pay a fine.
