Miami Tridents defeat Miami RFC Saturday in crosstown showdown

The Miami Tridents Rugby Football Club (RFC) defeated the Miami RFC Saturday in the second installment of this crosstown showdown for the 2012-2013 Rugby Season. For this match, the Miami RFC played host to the Tridents. The game was played at Ives Dairy Estates in Miami.

During the first match between the clubs this season, dubbed the Miami Cup, the Miami Tridents edged Miami by a score of 23 to 22. This time, the Tridents took the victory again, but Saturday's margin was a bit bigger than the slim win back in December.

The Miami Tridents earned their 34 points with five tries, three conversions, and one penalty kick. The Miami RFC relied on five tries and one conversion to reach its total of 27 points for the match.

With the 34 to 27 win, the Miami Tridents RFC improves its record to 4-3-0, while the Miami RFC falls to 0-7-0 for the season.

Gainesville routs the Indian River Raptors

The Gainesville Hogs RFC hosted the Indian River Raptors RFC on Saturday. The Gainesville Hogs have been a Division III powerhouse for years, while the Indian River Raptors are in their Inaugural Season.

The years of experience benefitted the Hogs on Saturday, as the club routed the Raptors by a score of 103 to 0. The Gainesville Hogs scored 15 tries and 14 conversions to earn their 103 points.

The Gainesville Hogs RFC improves its record to 2-1, while the Indian River Raptors RFC falls to 0-3 for the year.

Brevard beats Sarasota to remain undefeated

The Brevard Old Red Eye RFC hosted the Sarasota Saracens RFC on Saturday in Cocoa, Florida. Brevard entered the match as one of the two undefeated Division III clubs in Florida, while Sarasota entered the match with a loss to the Palm Beach Panthers RFC and a victory over the Indian River Raptors RFC.

Brevard beat Sarasota by a score of 50 to 33 to remain unbeaten for the season. Brevard’s record improves to 3-0, while Sarasota drops to 1-2.
