This coming Saturday February 23rd, 2013 from 11AM to 4PM, The Miami Science Museum will be holding its Engineering Day with an event entitled "Introduce a Girl To Engineering Day, 2013," a fun and memorable afternoon filled with engineering-related activities, career awareness and talks for all ages especially encouraging females to explore the engineering field.
As part of the national campaign entitled "Educate to Innovate" launched by President Obama to improve the participation and performance of America’s students in "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, STEM" the STEM Education will provide a new working force of young people across America to excel in science and math in the near future.
In South Florida, the Miami Science Museum will be one of the institutions that is responding to President Obama's call to action.
The event will demonstrate how creative and collaborative engineering is, and how engineers are changing the world.
To commemorate the National Engineering Week Foundation "ENGINEERS WEEK® (February 17-23, 2013) the foundation has launched "Introduce a Girl To Engineering Day, 2013" across the U.S. in a week-long of events that celebrate the positive contributions that engineers make to society.
Financial support for "Engineering Day- Introduce a Girl To Engineering Day, 2013" in Miami has been generously provided by Morgan Energy, Douglas Elliman, and Dilapi & Co.
Features will include career panels of successful women engineers sharing their stories of and keys to success, showcases by local engineering organizations and students, and hands-on activities and workshops.
