Last week Miami Hurricanes offensive lineman Malcolm Bunche was given permission to seek transfer from the University of Miami. Today he chose to go from the east coast to the west coast.

Bunche has decided to take his talents to Los Angeles and enroll at UCLA to play for the Bruins next season. As a UM graduate, Bunche will be eligible to play right away for the Bruins.

“I talked to Malcolm last night for quite a while and he was very impressed with his overall experience with the trip there to UCLA, the tour of the campus, his conversation with the head coach and offensive coordinator – and even more so his offensive line coach [Adrian Klemm],” Bunche’s father Curtis told the Miami Herald.

The junior was not allowed to transfer to any ACC schools or any of Miami’s non-conference opponents on its 2014 schedule. Those schools included Florida A&M, Nebraska, Cincinnati, and Arkansas State.

Bunche started all 12 games for Miami as a sophomore in 2012 but just once in 2013, leading to his decision to spend his final season of eligibility at another campus. He joins a UCLA squad that finished 2013 with a record of 10-3 that ended with a 42-22 victory over Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl.
