Chelsea's tour of the United States ended in defeat as Italy's AC Milan edged Champions League winner Chelsea 1-0 in an exhibition game on Saturday in front of a crowd of almost 60, 000 at Miami's SunLife Stadium.
Dutchman Urby Emanuelson converted on an running attack with teammate Stephen El-Shaarawy.
Emanuelson took the ball deep toward the Chelsea penalty area and then passed toward the left wing to El-Shaarawy.
El-Shaarawy took a shot but the ball hit a Chelsea defender and bounced back to Emanuelson, who beat Chelsea goalie Petr Cech with a hard shot.
Although Fernando Torres, making his first pre-season appearance for Chelsea, was introduced - the Blues still lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. Chelsea pushed to equalize the game but it proved in vain, as Milan's defense stayed firm
Chelsea controlled the offence at the start of the game. Milan played without star striker Robinho, who was not allowed to leave Brazil because of a passport problem. Robinho is, however, expected to join Milan for another exhibition game against Spain's Real Madrid on August 8 at New York's Yankee Stadium.
Massimiliano Allegri at AC Milan, has recently had to replace players Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta and Clarence Seedorf. Players Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, were also both pickd up by Paris Saint-Germain this month.
