LeBron James is officially a free agent. According to a CBS Sportsline report on June 24 James' agent, Rich Paul, told the Miami Heat that LeBron has chose to exercise his early-termination option and become a free agent this summer. Now, this doesn't mean that James won't end up back in South Beach, but it does lead to many interesting theories and thoughts.
Could James be headed back to Cleveland? While many fans have said in no certain terms that they do not care for the home town star after he chose to leave and play for the Heat, you know if he came back they would welcome him with open arms. James' wife posting a picture on her Instagram account with the caption "Home sweet home!! The countdown is real! #330." has people speculating that a return home may be more realistic than believed.
Could Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James going to end up on the same team? Clearly these two are going to be the most sought after free-agents of the summer in the NBA. The Bulls are very interested in landing Anthony according to several reports, including the Chicago Tribune. Could both of these stars land in Chicago?
Maybe James is doing this because he wants to stay in Miami, but he also wants to win. Case and point, James was reportedly unhappy with how the Heat let Mike Miller go at the end of the 2012-13 season last year and did nothing to add to the team. Miller is a better than average shooter and played a pretty big role in Miami's title run.
James could be looking for leverage from the Heat brass in hopes that they will either pursue a big name free agent or make a nice off season trade to help improve the team.
Right now everything is just speculation, but it sure is going to be an interesting summer! Where do you think LeBron will end up?
