The FIBA Americas 2013 final has come down to Mexico vs Puerto Rico in a live stream, TV schedule game for which ESPN3 and NBA-TV will handle broadcasting duties Wednesday (live) and Thursday night (TV replay).
A Sept. 11 Bleacher Report, indicates that the FIBA Americas finale tips off tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST (4:30 p.m. PST) live from the Poliedro de Caracas in Caracas, Venezuela.
According to international basketball oddsmakers, "La Isla del Encanto" will prove to be a very tough challenge for "El Tri" in the gold medal round.
Las Vegas' betting experts list Puerto Rico as six-point [-6½] favorites over Mexico [+6½] while the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 155½ points.
However, don't tell Mexico they're the underdogs following their stunning win over the team most experts predicted would capture the gold at the 2013 FIBA Americas.
Led by Gustavo Ayon's 24 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists, the Mexicans shocked the basketball world, sending Luis Scola and the Argentines to the silver-medal round.
But the "Boricuas" are no slouches, either, as they've also done enough to prove they're a worthy contender in the FIBA Americas 2013 finals.
JJ Barea led the way with 30 points (6 assists) and Renaldo Balkman pitched in with 26 (12 boards), as Puerto Rico came back from 22 down to beat Venezuela (86-85) in OT Sunday night.
Wednesday's game will mark the seventh time that these proud countries meet on the hardwood. And while Puerto Rico comes in with a commanding 5-1 edge, Mexico defeated them just three days ago, 66-59.
Despite finally breaking into the win column, the victory was bittersweet for the North Americans side. With a spot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup (Spain) secured, PR coach Francisco Olmos chose to rest Barea, Balkman and Carlos Arroyo the last time they met.
Thus, Mexican coach Sergio Valdeolmillos knows he'll certainly see a much different Puerto Rican side in tonight's FIBA Americas 2013 final.
Don't miss this historic Mexico vs Puerto Rico 2013 live stream of the FIBA Americas final either online or on NBA-TV (TV schedule).
