Mexico sweeps the Hispanic Choice Awards

Last Thursday at the Hispanic Choice Awards the arts community, government officials, educational institutions and others gathered to witness what some might say a "grito" of Mexicanos. Why? Well to say the least, Mexico and it's community swept the awards ceremony throughout the night. Could it have been due to the fact that this year Mexico celebrated their bicentennial? It might have, but this show brought the Latino community together to celebrate the one thing they all have in common: cultural pride.

Over a period of three months from June 1st to August 31st, 2010, it was announced via various outlets the opportunity for the public to visit phillyhca.com tp vpte fpr tjeor favorites in 13 different categories. The nominees were chosen based on the number of votes received. The three names with the highest number of votes in each category are named official nominees. The nomineee in each category with the highest number of votes is determined as the winner.

Finally during the awards ceremony, attendees witnessed everything from astounding musical performances (both local and national), touching award speeches, and a chance to see Mexico bring it home big!  Both media personality's Walter Perez, 6abc, and Ilia Garcia, Univision65, brought a distinct sense of humor to the show. While Latinos were the true winners of the evening, it was evident Mexico is (and will always) play an important role in Philly's Latino community in all industries. The winners were as followed:

The night was so entertaining ! Their was always something happening and a surprise thru throughout the entire night. Congratulations to the producer of the Hispanice Choice Awards, Javier Suarez. I often wondered how the Mexicans won so many awards, it would be interesting to find out how this happened. I guess voting does count.
