Muriel, famous in portraying villain roles in Spanish soap operas (telenovelas) - "Fuego en la Sangre", "Mariana de Noche", "La Esposa Virgen", "El Extraño Retorno de Diana Salazar", "Yo Compro esa Mujer", "Nunca te Olvidaré" with her first soap opera in 1972 "La Señora Joven" just to name a few of the 27 or so, was nominated many times by the Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Science) for her roles. But it was film that she started in 1969 "Lio de Faldas" along with 32 additional movies and the last one in 1992 "Zapatos Viejos".
Her acting in eight theatricals was from 1979 to 1994 - "Sola en la Obscuridad" in 1988, "Ocho Mujeres" in 1974, "Vaselina" in 1973, "El Juego que todos Jugamos" in 1970. And she also participated in the literacy promotion program for "Leo, luego existo".
Alma Muriel was living in Playa del Carmen at the time of her death. She is survived by two children.
