Mexican pirates shoot man on jet ski on Lake Falcon at Zapata, Texas

Yesterday, September 30, a man and his wife on jet skis were shot at by Mexican pirates on Lake Falcon, which is located on the Texas/Mexico border from Zapata, TX across the Rio Grande to Old Guerrero on the Mexican side. The man apparently was shot in the head and as his wife attempted to aid him she was also shot at which resulted in her fleeing for her life believing that her husband is dead.

This last April, 5 men were on 2 separate boats that were boarded by machine-gun toting men covered in tattoos (including Z tattoos circling either their necks and their wrists) who then demanded their money and asked “Where are the drugs”. These armed men were claiming to be “Federales” (Mexican Federal Police) though they wore no uniforms and the Z tattoos could well indicate they are members of the Zetas paramilitary drug cartel. In the words of Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez at the time, “It's piracy. It may not be on the high seas, but they are taking advantage of people on this lake by threatening and robbing them.”

Other incidents have also occurred and yet our federal government refuses to do anything more than send the National Guard onto the border when obviously the Coast Guard needs to be there to protect Americans who go out on this lake to fish or just to enjoy boating on a beautiful lake. Of course, first Obama would have to speak to Governor Perry to find out what the problems are and how they need to be addressed, which he seems unwilling to do as the most time he has at present given the situation was 20 or 30 seconds when Governor Perry met him at the plane, with a letter explaining the problem in his hand. Unfortunately Obama refused to take the letter and Governor Perry had to give it to Obama's aide Valerie Jarrett.  We can hope that Obama read the letter though since he refused to make time for our Governor to plead the case of Texas and the dangerous life the open border, and unprotected waterways, are for us.

It is our right as Americans to be able to expect the government, federal and state, to abide by the laws which this nation was founded on—the Constitution—which explicitly says, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence...”

    Before Obama can do anything, he must return from his regularly scheduled vacations and golf dates. I do not see him doing this.

    Sounds like this happened on the mexico side of the lake? As someone who frequents these lakes, I am well aware of the risks and I personally do not expect the government to do anything when I willingly leave the country. How is this different than Americans being mugged in Juarez? I guarantee that happens more frequently with less news coverage.

    This is tragic of the couple out on this exceptionally large lake of, 83,654 acres jet sking! How do they know where the border is? Nothing was even mentioned on our News in California.

    They are referring to them as Pirates, when they aren't, they didn't even get close to rob them, they weren't trying to rob them, they wanted to murder them, which they did.
    This should be HEADLINED IN EVERY NEWSPAPER, ON EVERY NEWS CHANNEL ON TELEVISION. THESE ARE US CITIZENS!

    This is exactly what Gov. Brewer in Arizona is fighting to avoid there and Obama is against her?!

    Los Zetas Mexican cartel were responsible for the other incidences

    Wow, what a shame. Our President isn't even willing to examine the problem to fix it. Too much bureocaratic bull, always afraid of what it will do to their careeer, not whats for the good of our citizens and country.

    There a lots of ways to get weapons into Mexico. You sing that same old song as if to imply that it's somehow their own fault. The truth is that the Mexican government is not in control of their own country. Period.

    Somethings not right , that Zeta was able to shoot at a moving target on the water both the jet ski and the alleged boat he was on at over 100 yards , thats a hell of a shot and with an ak 47 as reported something smells fishy....
