The Mexican National Team is coming back to the Bay Area, as they'll take on Chile in an international friendly at the new Levi's Stadium on September 6 in Santa Clara, Calif.
With the teams set to take part in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup (Mexico) and the Copa America (Mexico, Chile) the clubs will surely be observing each player's performance to help shape the two respective clubs.
San Jose Earthquakes season ticket holders will have access to the pre-sale starting today (10 a.m.) while Visa accountholders will have access to another pre-sale beginning Thursday, July 31 at 10 a.m. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. and will be available via Ticketmaster.
Three days later on Sept. 9, Mexico will take on Bolivia at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. (7 p.m. PT).
Both matches will be Mexico's first since their elimination in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Mexico advanced out of their group along with Brazil, before being eliminated by The Netherlands in the Round of 16. Chile also advanced out of their group alongside The Netherlands but were ousted by Brazil in their Round of 16 match.
Mexico's game against Chile will mark the first international soccer match at Levi's Stadium. Mexico's previous match in the Bay was them draw with Peru 0-0 at Candlestick Park.
The September 6 match between the two clubs will be the 27th contest against each other with Mexico holding the advantage in the all-time record over Chile with 14 wins, 10 losses and 2 draws. The last time Mexico and Chile faced each other was in September 2011, with Mexico winning 1-0.
Levi's Stadium will hold its first soccer match this upcoming Saturday, as the Earthquakes will take on Seattle FC in MLS action.
