Mexican illegal immigrants leaving U.S. in self-deportation

With the passage of the tough new anti-illegal immigration act in Arizona, some illegal Mexican immigrants have begun to return to Mexico without waiting for it to go into effect.  Combined with the economic crisis and mortgage meltdown it appears that the anti-immigrant sentiment is leading to "self-deportation."

According to an article in NewsAmericaMedia on April 27, 2010, the "self-deportation" is not only because of the anti-illegal bill passed by the Arizona Legislature and signed by Governor Jan Brewer, but also the continuing feelings of  intimidation.  Laws enforced by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County who has been accused of making it his mission to persecute the undocumented have caused many to leave the Phoenix area.

The bill will not go into effect for 90 days after the end of the legislative session. The current law does not allow police to detain someone under "suspicion of being undocumented."

The law, SB 1070, will be challenged by organization that do not believe that it is legal. Meanwhile some of the estimated 500,000 undocumented immigrants may decide to leave Arizona before the law goes into effect.

One can only hope they'll leave of their own accord. And that New Mexico and Texas follow suit legislatively. California is already a lost cause...

For the President of the United States to be on the side of the Mexican President AGAINST one of his own US states and the people of America and Arizona is seditious and he should be tried and executed.

uhhhhhh, yeah....let's all sit back and watch half a million illegal aliens leave Arizona...wave BYE BYE!....94, 95, 96, 97....wait a minute, wasn't there more than 97? Half a million come in, 97 go out. "Bubba, youse good at figurin'. How many's that leave us?"

Texas governor Perry has already said that he won't follow Arizona because he feels illegal immigration is a federal matter and that it would over work the current police forces in Texas. I call it what it is...BS. He has stars in his eyes to one day run for President or VP and he doesn't want to tick off potential voters. We have a RINO governor in Texas and he needs to be ousted.

That don't mean that it won't become a law. If it passes both house and senate with more than 2/3rds voting in favor, it becomes law without signature of the Gov and he can't veto it!!!!

uhhh, yeah...I guess you don't know how big the hispanic vote is in Texas...Perry knows what political suicide looks like and so does the Texas Legislature...Texas would probably be the last state to enact an Arizona-type law.

I think Arizona should at least point the way to San Francisco, a sanctuary city. They could use another half million people to help pick their grapes.
