Have you been to the Bob Bullock History Museum yet? It's the cool looking building at 1800 N. Congress and MLK. Now is the perfect time to make your maiden voyage if you have not already. Arte en La Charreria, is an outstanding historical collection of historical equestrian objects of the Mexican charro or cowboy culture. It is opening February 19th and will be there until June 5th.
This collection was put together by International Arts and Artists and contains over 100 examples of leatherwork, including saddles and bridles, clothing and artwork distinctive to the Mexican culture.
The mexican cowboy culture has it's roots in a 500 year old history that began when the Spanish explorers first brought horses and cattle to this region from Spain. The cowboy style of saddle with a saddle horn, developed because of the cattle culture and the clothing reflects this as well.
These intricate hand crafted objects are a beautiful example of the the predominant Mexican nation in this region of North America.
The Bob Bullock Center has convenient parking next door. The Parking Garage entrance is located on the south side of the Museum on 18th Street, just off North Congress Avenue.
