On Tuesday, July 28, the Consulate General of Mexico made an unusual offer to accept the first 70 persons who come to the Oasis of Hope church iin Webster at 11:00 without an appointment to receive passport applications and renewals, as well as consular registrations

In its ongoing effort to provide services to local constituents throughout the Houston region, the Consulate General of Mexico offers its official services on an occasional basis at various locations and on days other than normal Consular Office hours. For example, on Saturday July 26, the “Consulate on Wheels” (Consulado Sobre Ruedas) was held at Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe”1412-12th Street Bay City, TX 77414

This week the “Consulate on Wheels” will stay a total of 9 days in Webster not far from the Johnson Space Center at the Iglesia Oasis de Esperanza/Oasis of Hope Church at 471 South Austin St, Webster, TX 77598. The mobile consular office will be open from July 29 through August 1 and from August 4 through August 8. Generally, the Consulate has asked those who need to renew passports and other documents to make an appointment in advance by calling 1 877 639 -4835 or by visiting the website https://citas.sre.gob.mx/mexitel_web.

Those applyng for a passport should bring

  1. A completed form OP-5

  2. Birth certificate

  3. 2 passport-sized photos with a white background, no glasses or contact lenses, and without any head covering.

  4. For minors under 18, both parents with photo identification or one parent with Form OP-7 signed by the absent parent authorizing the application.

For renewing and expired passport, bring

      1. A completed form OP-5

      2. The expired passport

      3. 2 passport-sized photos with a white background, no glasses or contact lenses, and without any head covering.

      4. For minors under 18, both parents with photo identification or one parent with Form OP-7 signed by the absent parent authorizing the application.

The costs payable in US dollars is $74 for a 3-year passport and $101 for a 6-year passport.

For consular registration, applicants should bring

  1. birth certificate

  2. official photo identification

  3. Proof of address with the applicant's name

  4. Marriage certificate for married women

  5. For minors under 18, both parents with photo identification or one parent with Form OP-7 signed by the absent parent authorizing the application.

    To renew an expired consular registration, bring

      1. Expired consular registration

      2. Copy of birth certificate

      3. Proof of address with the applicant's name

      4. Marriage certificate for married women

      5. For minors under 18, both parents with photo identification or one parent with Form OP-7 signed by the absent parent authorizing the application.

The fee for a 5-year consular registration is $27.
