Mets turn down Hairston's two year offer

The New York Mets have reportedly rejected free agent Scott Hairston's offer.

He is expected to sign with a team this week. While the New York Yankees are reluctant to give Hairston a two-year deal, the Mets are willing to go there. But not at the price his agent has given to the Mets.

His representative has asked the Mets for a two-year, $8 million dollar deal. The team has balked at the offer.

He had a .263 batting average with 20 home runs last season with the Mets in 398 plate appearances. He made the majority of his plate appearances against left handers, where he had a .286 batting average.
