With Jose Reyes likely headed back to the disabled list due to the hamstring injury he sustained against the Yankees last weekend, the Mets have recalled infielder Nick Evans from Buffalo to fill the prospective roster spot that will be vacated by Reyes.
The 25-year-old Evans has been Mr. Everything for the Herd in the absence of Lucas Duda. Evans is hitting .329 with 28 runs, 13 doubles, seven home runs and 29 RBI in 57 games with the Bisons. He had a 19-game hitting streak from May 12-June 29, going a staggering 38-for-74 over that span.
Evans had a short stint with the Mets earlier in the season, going 0-for-12 with five walks.
