Metro Fresh in a cozy cafe with many gluten-free offerings

Metro Fresh is a charming café on the edge of Piedmont Park, next to the Trader Joe’s on Monroe Drive. The food is always fresh - hence the name - and it’s also delicious and inventive!

Owner and chef Mitchell Anderson has created a welcoming place to enjoy real food for Metro Atlantans. The Metro Fresh menu changes daily and is posted online so you can check the gluten-free options before heading over. These usually include a gluten-free soup (or several) and many fabulous dishes like chicken and tuna salads, mixed greens with goat cheese and pecans, etc. So far, no gluten-free desserts have been spotted at Metro Fresh except for fruit. Maybe Mitchell will pick up the Betty Crocker gluten-free cookie mix and work his magic with it.

Every Saturday night this Summer – starting at 5:30 PM - Metro Fresh is offering a deal that can’t be beat. If you buy one entrée, you get one FREE and most every night there is a gluten-free entrée option. Check their website for daily menu options or consider signing up for the Metro Fresh menu e-mail list. Recently we popped into the busy café to pick up some summer salads for dinner. One of the gluten-free options that day was a sweet potato salad which was one of the best things we’ve had from Metro Fresh. It was absolutely amazing and one of the most creative uses for sweet potatoes we’ve ever come across.

If you haven’t yet, be sure and give Metro Fresh a try for lunch or dinner. Order the wonderful tuna salad without bread to keep it gluten-free. If it’s not listed on the gluten-free menu, just confirm it’s safe if you order without bread, as the recipes there change from time to time. The talented chefs at Metro Fresh like changing things up and surprising their customers. What better way to keep them coming back for more great fresh food again and again!
