The recent meteors that hit Russia, has to make you think about how vulnerable we are laying here in space, suspended. A flash illuminated the Russia sky on Friday morning and has been compared to a second sun. The space rock centered n on a town in the Siberian wilderness. The light ends in the sky with a perfect hole that has been measured 20 feet in diameter. Jokes went around regarding "green men" that might crawl out of the hole. But the mood was still fraught with an undertone of sobriety.
When the meteor entered our atmosphere over Alaska it was 7,000 tons and was at least 50 feet in diameter, acfording to NASA. .Something that big only hits once every century. The explosion was compared to a force of 500 kilotons of TNT. Then a shock wave injured hundreds of for a radius of 54 miles. It even collapsed the wall of a factory in the nearby town of Chelyabinsk.
Right now, all possibly sites of impact are being studied. But Russia is not alone. South Florida reported seeing a flickering light falling off the states coast on Sunday night. There has not been any official report released stating that the flickering fireball was a meteor, however residents are sure that it was.
