Metallica took a break from their "Metallica by Request" tour to do an interview with Argentinian show "La Viola," where drummer Lars Ulrich hinted to a possible studio album release in 2015.
Metallica has not released an album since their 2008 release of "Death Magnetic." "Death Magnetic" saw the band return to their older sound, with eight-minute songs, tempo changes, guitar solos, and heavily distorted guitars backed by equally heavy drum beats.
They are currently on their tour, entitled, "Metallica by Request," where fans who have purchased tickets are given the opportunity to vote on the band's setlist. The only song that has been played not by request is a new song called "Lords of Summer," an eight-minute song is being well-received by fans.
When asked about the possibility of a new album, Ulrich said:
We're writing away. We've got some good ideas. Our biggest problem is not the ideas, our biggest problem is time. MEtallica is busier than ever, and it just seems like there's more and more going on and the days get shorter and shorter. But, hopefully, we will be done writing this year and next year we should record and hopefully have a new record out maybe next year. We'll see. Hopefully next year.
