The anticipated 2013 lineup for Orion Music + More Festival was announced on Feb. 25. Following a much heralded first-year, two-day event that took place in Atlantic City last year, this year's dates will occur on June 8 and 9 at Belle Isle in Detroit, Mich. In addition to Metallica, headliners will include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar. It's a lineup that transcends boundaries and will bring together several generations of music lovers.

Metallica have reached the point in their career where they can pick and choose when and where they perform. In 2011 they turned the music world upside down by celebrating their 30th anniversary at San Francisco's Fillmore. It was a four-day event in their hometown that brought together all facets of their career, rekindling old ties (Dave Mustaine and Jason Newsted participated) and guest appearances with many of their influences (Rob Halford, Geezer Butler and Lou Reed to name but a few). It was a dream event for the fans and artists alike. Fast forward to 2012 and they brought us a first taste of Orion with Avenged Sevenfold and Arctic Monkeys and a wealth of other talent.
