Metal roofing on display at the Louisville home show this weekend

This weekend is a great opportunity to learn about metal roofing for your home at the Home, Garden and Remodeling Show in Louisville. The show is at the Kentucky Expo Center and includes hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday March 11th-13th. For exact show hours and details see www.louisvillehomeshow.com.

Among the many home-improvement exhibitors on-hand will be Classic Metal Roofing Systems of Kentuckiana, a company specializing in residential metal roofs that have the dimensional look of wood shakes, tiles or slate. Joe Knife, the branch manager, will be in the booth for much of the show. “Every year this show is one of my favorite events because so many people come in and say, 'Wow, that's a metal roof? I had no idea metal could look like that!',” said Knife.

Now in their fifth year in Louisville, Classic Metal Roofing both manufactures and installs metal roofs, especially on homes. “We can do larger projects like churches or shopping centers, but on residential roofs is where our products really are in demand. People want the durability of metal for their home, but they don't want it to look like a barn, or a bank. When they see that a metal roof can be durable and beautiful, they start to get excited,” Knife explains.

“When they start to do a little more research, they get really amazed at what a metal roof can do for their home—things people never expect like really increasing the energy efficiency.” Knife says that most of their product and color choices are Energy-Star Certified; “Meaning not only do they save energy, but there's also a federal tax credit.”

In addition to their display at the home show, Classic Metal Roofing can provide interested homeowners with a list of addresses where they have installed metal roofs. “The best thing you can do is go see a few. No picture, no brochure, can do it justice as much as seeing one in person. We will have a great display at the home show and tons of pictures, but really the best thing is always to go see some houses.”

Knife says that in spite of the struggling economy, metal roofing has remained a strong segment of the construction industry. “People are deciding they want to stay in their current home for the long-term rather than sell, and that is when a metal roof makes the most sense. You spend more up-front but get a tremendous payback by not having constant roof maintenance and replacement.” Knife directs those who cannot attend the home show this weekend to visit their website at www.ClassicKY.com.
