‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ director talks returning characters

Hideo Kojima has revealed some of the returning characters in the upcoming multiplatform video game, “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.” According to a report from Gaming Bolt on March 30, the game director confirmed that Ocelot and Kaz are going to be coming back as radio contacts.

As a result, players will be able to converse with Ocelot directly for the first time in the “Metal Gear Solid” series with the forthcoming sequel.

Hideo Kojima also talked more about the Fox Engine, stating that the development tools streamline the process of creating “new designs and environments.” It also makes it easier for him to eventually hand the directing torch to someone else. The Fox Engine is much more efficient compared to previous engines. It makes it a lot easier to create new designs and environments, and it also becomes easier for me to pass the license over to a possible new director to create new games in the series.

“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” is currently in development for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One although a release date window has not yet been provided by Konami Digital Entertainment. The recently-launched “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes,” which came out in North America on March 18, gave fans a quick taste at what to expect from the upcoming mainline installment.
