Meryl Streep is loved by the world. On Tuesday the entertainer was honored at one of the most prominent film festivals in Europe. Taking the stage at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany the actress was honored with the Golden Honorary Bear award for Lifetime Achievement. Looking overwhelmed and delighted, she graced the podium to offer her appreciation to be chosen for the award.
While the speech was full of names the average person might not know, Streep was careful to thank everyone that had something to do with her career even if she didn’t know their names including "some of the great writers and directors on whose shoulders I've been placed tonight."
While it definitely is a highlight for the actress’s career, the award season is gearing up for the finale with the Academy Awards only two weeks out. Winning a BAFTA Award on Sunday night and now the Golden Honorary Bear award fans are wondering if the entertainer will receive the Oscar for her performance in The Iron Lady.
The entire award season sounds as though Meryl Streep is on a roller coaster as she navigates all the different award shows. Sharing how it felt as an entertainer, she compared it to a sporting event.
"And suddenly you feel like you're in a sporting event and you haven't signed up for it. You did some work in a film that you're proud of and you are hoping that people will go and see it, and suddenly you're doing calisthenics for Superbowl," said Meryl Streep to the media pool in Berlin.
