The concert which will be held in the Theatre and not the River Center arena will bring the audience up close and personal with the country music legend. Doors are scheduled to open at 6:00 p.m. with the concert starting at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster for the show and range in price from $50.05 to $71.50, depending on the seating level selected.
Merle Haggard has put out many records in his lifetime and they all tell a story put to music. Haggard has always had a special touch in writing songs that his fans can relate to, no matter how simple the subject. He is true to himself and follows the advice his father gave him to always "be honest."
Haggard has had 40 No. 1 hits and many that charted in the top ten over the years he has been performing in the country music field. However, it wasn't until 1994 that Haggard was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Haggard struggled after losing his father at the age of nine. He rebelled, ran away from home. was put in several detention center to only land himself in jail several times for petty crimes. At the age of 20 Haggard got a taste of prison life that kept him locked up until 1960. After serving time for several years, Haggard decided to get serious about music and his career developed over the next four years.
Haggard recorded his first single, "Sing A Sad Song" on Talley Records label in 1964. It became a Top Twenty single and the first of many of his songs to hit the charts.
