But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation: It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. [Mal. 3:6.] They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. [Isa. 33:2.] The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. [Num. 18:20.] (Lamentations 3:21-24 AMP)
Sometimes our lives are filled with troubles and issues. What a powerful, healing gift hope is. The author of this book, knew that the Lord's mercy was his hope. God is part.tender and compassionate and all of this is new every morning so if God was a little miffed at us at night for our sins during the day, tomorrow we have a pure, clean slate of mercy and tender compassion.
The Lord is our portion. He lives in our heart and sets up camp in there because we are His portion. But He is our portion also. He gives us all of Himself as ours. If we need a portion of mercy He pours it out within us. If we're sinking in despair He gives us a double portion of hope. If we need love, again He gives us plenty of love.
Lord, thank You that each morning when I wake up, whether I deserve it or not there's a gift of mercy tied up in a raffia bow for me. I open it and it soothes me and gives me hope to face a new day of trouble and issues with joy and peace. You amaze me Lord. I'm glad You're my portion, never to leave.
In the video Oprah discusses how to begin a morning. She has some very good suggestions but I would add thanking god for the mercy within. And to speak with the Savior, it can be a short time, but give Him your heart.
