Mercy High School senior athletes sign letters of intent
Congratulations to Mercy High School soccer players Rachel Bourne and Lexie Niedoba who recently signed papers, indicating their intention to play soccer in college. Rachel signed with Mount Saint Mary's University and Lexie signed with the University of Louisville. Both programs are Divison 1. Parents of both athletes were present at school for the signing amid the cheers of the athletes' classmates.Another eligible senior, Alexis Prior-Brown, deferred her decision to play at the University of Maryland in light of recent coaching changes.
In November, Mercy lacrosse players Shannon Aikens and Taylor Hicks signed letters of intent to play college lacrosse at Loyola University Maryland and Shepherd University, respectively.

Bryn Mawr announces new Middle School Director
The Bryn Mawr School recently announced the appointment of Amanda Macomber to the position of Middle School Director, effective July 1, 2012. Macomber comes to Bryn Mawr from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, where she has held many roles over the past 11 years, including the past seven years as the Intermediate and Middle School Dean.
In addition to her administrative experience, Macomber has taught Spanish and math, served as Director of Summer Programs, Director of Service Learning, Chair of the school’s AIMS Accreditation Self-Study, and has coached Middle School volleyball and softball. She was instrumental in the creation of Middle School programs in leadership and diversity at St. Andrew’s, and her colleagues describe her as “very committed to the social and emotional development of middle school-aged students.”
"A seasoned, thoughtful and inspiring educator, Amanda will bring terrific experience and new energy to the Middle School,"said Maureen E. Walsh, Headmistress of The Bryn Mawr School. "We are thrilled to welcome her into our community."
Cardin Head of School joins others at conference
Shoshana S. Cardin School Head of School, Barbie Prince recently joined more than 700 leaders and educators from Jewish day schools across the spectrum for the 3rd annual North American Jewish Day School Conference.
"This conference was a collaborative opportunity for The Cardin School to learn from and support the greater community of Jewish Day Schools," said Prince. "I am excited to share the inspiration I gained there with the rest of the staff and students at Cardin."
The conference focused on "Current Landscapes—Changing Horizons" with conference sessions addressing topics such as 21st century skills, the Jewish day school value proposition, re-imagining and sustaining day schools, and innovations in Jewish education.
