Mercury is stationing in Scorpio. Right now. Mercury retrogrades about three times a year. At the moment I don’t remember what happened with the retrogrades earlier this year, but I will refer you to last November’s article as an illustration. Mercury was in Sagittarius.
I wrote: You already know the drill. At this time things feel different especially when you are trying to get work done, make plans or move on projects. You get a lot of wrong numbers and cancelled appointments. You’re expecting a letter or a package and it doesn’t come. Delays, confusion, wrong information and all sorts of communications problems come up and Mercury says, wait, take inventory, do some research, reorganize and try again later. What this really boils down to is you must have patience and pay attention. Have Plan B ready just in case… Today on Election Day (November 6, 2013) the voting processes are a disorganized mess partly due to the recent bad weather and partly because all the states decided to do things differently. Because of flooding and power outages here in North Jersey due to Hurricane Sandy many people can’t get to the polls… Alternative forms of ballots are available in some areas but may not be properly regulated… These are all characteristic of Mercury retrograde.
This recap is just to refresh your memory about the quixotic nature of Mercury. This week Mercury is stationing, slowing down in Scorpio to begin the retrograde on October 21. But he is already misbehaving. When a planet, especially Mercury, retrogrades or forms an aspect, the resulting events are colored by the other transits. You may expect one thing but get something else.
Mercury is now acting in combination with the Sun. In my birth chart I have Mercury retrograde in conjunction with Uranus. Uranus is square Neptune. The Sun has been moving through Libra, contacted my Neptune and squared Uranus. This set up an interesting dynamic in my routine this week. Confused yet? What happened was this. My email got hacked. It happens to the best of us. The trolls get into the Internet ethers and make mischief. For two days I’ve been trying to straighten things out. All my friends got panic-stricken emails from me. I was stuck in the Philippines and needed $2400. There was something about a Nigerian Prince. I got phone calls, Facebook messages and assorted problems with AOL. These are common scams everyone recognizes but it still mucks things up. I spent a lot of time explaining and sorting things out when I could have been getting work done.
Usually I work well during Mercury retrograde. I have no problem with it. It’s been a long while since something like this happened. The combination of the Sun, Neptune and Uranus can bring deceit, confusion, fraud and communication problems. Uranus rules computers and the Internet. Scorpio is about sabotage and hidden things. Who knows whom my little troll is but I’m guessing he is a foreigner due to his reported bad English. He may be somewhere in Afghanistan for all I know. Isn’t that funny? Scorpio is in my 9th house, which rules foreigners.
And one more thing. Saturn is also in Scorpio now so it may mean a test of patience. Don’t get upset. Get organized. Do the necessary background checks and stay cool, calm and collected. Be sure to check out Robert Wilkinson’s helpful article about retrograde Mercury at Aquarius Papers.
