Merciless Eviction is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today Jan. 15, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed in a Tweet by @Wizards_Magic, Merciless Eviction is a versatile and powerful board sweeper for Orzhov players to abuse. It's like a charm on steroids.
Merciless Eviction - 4WB
Sorcery (Rare)
Choose one - Exile all artifacts; or exile all creatures; or exile all enchantments; or exile all planeswalkers.
"I once saw the Obzedat moved to action. Since that day, I've been thankful that they're mainly lazy, and dead."
-Aurelia, to Gideon Jura
Unlike Terminus, Merciless Eviction exiles creatures instead of putting them on the bottom of their owner's library. That means your opponent's Gravecrawler or Geralf's Messenger will really be gone for good. Boros Charm is poised to see heavy play to combat Supreme Verdict, however it won't stop your Merciless Eviction from cleaning the battlefield.
Because Merciless Eviction can also also artifacts, enchantments, or planeswalkers you're able to tailor your deck to effectively gain the most advantage of it.
One way to take advantage of Merciless Eviction might be in controlling deck that doesn't play any creatures. Orzhov Keyrune can help you reach the six mana you need while also serving both defensive and later offensive roles. Every Murder or Ultimate Price you cast can bring you one step closer to winning thanks to Blind Obedience.
Liliana of the Veil, Lilana of the Dark Realms (which can fuel Mutilate), Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, and Gideon, Champion of Justice are four powerful planeswalkers worth considering in any deck with Merciless Eviction.
How will you use Merciless Eviction?
