CHICAGO (June 30, 2010) - The Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair™, one of the premier antiques shows in the Midwest,returns Oct. 1-4 to The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, with more than 100 top dealers of antiques and fine art. This year The Fair will introduce Emporium, a new pavilion where shoppers will discover cool and unusual finds from dealers specializing in 19th and 20th century genres and styles including mid-century Modernism, vintage furniture, found items, folk art, vintage clothing, jewelry and more. This hip, affordable and un-intimidating offering will be the must-see area of The Fair.

Keynote lecture, 10 am

Chicago Home + Garden Virtual Home Tours

Jan Parr, editor of Chicago Home + Garden, will conduct virtual house tours from the pages of her magazine. Using examples of some of the most well-designed homes in the Chicago area, she’ll discuss how to arrange and display collections, how to mix antiques with contemporary furniture and how to make antiques look fresh.

Attendees looking for great design advice can make an appointment for a complimentary design consultation with one of the Merchandise Mart Design Center’s Designer Portfolio designers. Thirty-minute sessions are available.
• Designer Docent Tours

• Designer Vignettes
On display throughout The Fair, leading designers will create beautiful room-scapes on the show floor, demonstrating how to blend contemporary furnishings with antiques. Collectors may tour these spaces for inspiration.
