Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl commercial stars Kate Upton, Usher

The new Super Bowl XLVII commercial by Mercedes-Benz will be shown on Sunday, Feb. 3 and is entitled "Soul". The television ad features actor Willem Dafoe, model Kate Upton, and singer Usher. Watch the ad here.

An extended preview of the ad was uploaded on the car maker's official YouTube channel and generated over two million views in just two days. The ad shows a potential car buyer refusing to sign a contract (i.e., refusing to turn his soul over) to the devil, who is played by Willem Dafoe.

Instead of dating Kate Upton and performing onstage with Usher, the buyer instead chooses to purchase a Mercedes-Benz for less than $30,000. That's one heck of a message considering how the U.S. economy has been struggling since 2008. However, Mercedes-Benz hoped to align the allure of fame and celebrity with its brand.

According to CBS, the network that will broadcast this year's biggest football game, a 30-second television spot will cost companies a whopping $3.8 million. It's unclear whether Mercedes-Benz will feature the extended or shortened version of the television spot. Sunday's Super Bowl will feature a showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens.

Super Bowl 2013 will be broadcast live on Sunday beginning at 6:00 p.m. EST and will take place at the Superdome in New Orleans. Fans can watch a live broadcast of the game on the internet on CBSSports.com.

Beyonce will perform during the one-hour half-time show. The game will last longer than regular NFL broadcasts as timeouts and commercial breaks will be lengthier in order to bring in additional revenue for the league and its owners.

(Owners of NFL teams get 80 percent of their revenue from league-wide profit sharing incentives, and only 20 percent from their own team's sales.) Likewise, the half-time show will feature more performances than those during the regular season or playoffs.
